John “Nickie” Nicholson Sr, 87

John “Nickie” Nicholson Sr. , age 87 of Jasper passed away at 8:10 a.m. Monday (August 22, 2011) in Brookside Village Health Care Center in Jasper.
He was born in Soquel, California , Indiana on February 2, 1924 to Anna H.(Webster) and George W. Nicholson. He married Inez Clair (Mimee) Sermersheim on May 26, 1946 in Altadena, California.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving during WWII, and became a pilot, flying Corsair Fighters.
John was employed by JOFCO, Inc. for 31 years, retiring as Vice President of Manufacturing. He served on the Jasper Planning Commission, was a past- President of the Jasper Lions Club.
“Nickie” and and his late wife Inez were avid travelers and enjoyed spending winters in Florida at their home in Bradenton.
He is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, V.F.W. Post # 673, American Legion Post # 147.

- Grandchildren, Jason and his spouse (Gina) Schwartz, Matt (Brandi) Schwartz, Andrew (Joyce) Nicholson, Hannah Nicholson and Molly Nicholson.
- Great grandchildren, Maria, Lauren, Nick, Abbie and Maddie Schwartz.
Preceding him in death besides his wife are four brothers.
Funeral services for John Nicholson will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday (August 25, 2011) in St. Joseph Catholic Church with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum. V.F.W. Post # 673 will conduct military rites.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday (August 24, 2011) at the Becher & Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
