John “Jay” Baker, 72, Hillham

John “Jay” Baker, 72, of Hillham, entered into eternal rest on July 15, 2026, at Deaconess Memorial Health Care Center, Jasper, Ind.

He was born in Cutshin, Kentucky on December 7, 1953, to Edgar and Audrey Alene (Ratliff) Baker.

Jay married Sandy Courtright on October 15, 1977, and she survives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Keith and Eugene; and sisters, Gladys and Nila.

Jay attended Springs Valley Wesleyan Church and was owner of Jay’s Carpentry Work. He enjoyed drag racing, dirt track racing, watching westerns, restoring old buildings and spending time with family.

Jay is survived by his wife, Sandi Baker of Hillham; son, John Baker (Lyndi Houchin) of Hillham; daughter, Jaimi Rickelman (Mark) of Paoli; sister, Judy Gudger of Birdseye; grandchildren, Chase, Xander, Orion, Sawyer, and Madi.

Cremation was chosen.

Arrangements are in the care of Brosmer-Kemple Funeral Home, French Lick, Indiana. 47432.
