John J. Luker, 88, Otwell

John J. Luker, 88, of Otwell, passed away on September 12, 2024, at Serenity Springs Senior Living at Northwood, Jasper.

He was born September 10, 1936, in Huntingburg, Indiana, to Earl and Corilla (Blessinger) Luker. 

John retired from Jofco after 51 years of service to the company. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and rodeos on television, spending time with his family and traveling to Gatlinburg, Tennessee.  

John is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Betty (Abell) Luker; a brother, Earl Luker, Jr.; two sisters, Phyllis Schulte, Betty Lou Luker; and a grandson, Sean Scanlon. 

He is survived by his wife, Erma Luker of Jasper, previously of Otwell; his children, Kathy (Larry) Tenbarge of Huntingburg, John (Kathy) Luker of Huntingburg, Jeff (Arlene) Luker of Jasper, Tom Luker of Loogootee; Earl (Tina Madden) Luker of Jasper; stepsons, Tony (Bobbie) Sorguis of Rockport, Michael (Kim Opal) Sorguis of Evansville; sisters, Mary Jane (Linus) Voegerl, Patty Leinenbach, Eileen (Don) Patberg; 20 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at McClure Cemetery in Algiers, Indiana at 11:00 a.m. EST on September 21, 2024 with friends and family gathering at 10:30 at the graveside. Dr. Gary Keepes will officiate the service. Nass & Son Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
