John C. Hagedorn, 69

John C. Hagedorn, 69, of Ferdinand, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2014, at his home.
He was born July 22, 1945 in Perry County to Clarence and Olivia A. (Naviaux) Hagedorn.
He married Marilyn Knies on August 16, 1969 in St. Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine.
John was the owner/operator of Hagedorns’ Service Center in Ferdinand. He opened on Main Street in Ferdinand in March of 1964 when he was only 18 years old and operated the business for 50 years.
John enjoyed helping people and taking care of his customers, especially people traveling in need of help. He enjoyed antique cars, especially International Scouts.
John enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, cutting firewood, planting trees, art, painting and music. John was a member of Saint Ferdinand Parish, and was a member and past president of the St. Joseph’s Sodality. He served in the Indiana National Guard and also in the Cyclone Division of the 38th Infantry.
John is survived by his wife, Marilyn Hagedorn of Ferdinand; two sons, Andy Hagedorn and wife, Amy, of Ferdinand, Alex Hagedorn and wife, Ilona, of Lousiville, Ky.; one daughter, Amy Wonder and husband, Mike, of Bloomington; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Michael Hagedorn and wife, Karen, of Bristow, Bernard Hagedorn and wife, Deborah, of Vincennes, and Fred Hagedorn and wife, Belle Ann, of Ferdinand; four sisters, LaVerne Grundhoefer and husband, Robert, of Santa Claus, Mary Ann Hoge and husband, Bill, of Zionsville, Rosalie Denu and husband, John, of Jasper, Clara Pfister and husband, Michael, of Evansville.
John was preceded in death by both of his parents.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday in Saint Ferdinand Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:00-9:30 a.m. Thursday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand.
