John Burger states his side

John Burger (democrat) is the third candidate in the Jasper Mayoral Race. Although he has not written a statement regarding the biomass power plant during an interview yesterday and Monday he stated he was against the proposed biomass power plant.

“I don’t want Jasper to be a guinea pig for this plant.” Burger said.

He further stated that although no public referendum could be conducted to determine the path the city would take on the issue of the power plant he supported moving forward with a non-binding public referendum.

“Before a decision is made lets find out what the public thinks.” Burger said. “If in fact we can have one, we could have one three weeks from now.”

Burger stated he feels very strongly about getting the public opinion on the proposal due to the fact that it will have such an impact on everyone in the city.

“I have not seen one person publicly stand up for the biomass power plant.” Burger said.
