John A. Hopster, 56, of Jasper, Indiana passed away at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2015, at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

John was born in Jasper, Indiana on January 31, 1959 to Anthony and Maxine (Kreilein) Hopster. He married Karen Lubbehusen on September 13, 1981 in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Ferdinand, Indiana.

John previously worked for the City of Jasper Street Department for 23 years. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, the Jasper Outdoor Recreation, the Jasper Band Booster Club, and was a third degree knight in the Jasper Knights of Columbus.

He enjoyed NASCAR and was a Jeff Gordon Fan. He also liked the Indianapolis Colts and the Los Angeles Dodgers. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to dinner, and playing cards.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Hopster of Jasper; two daughters, Kelli Hopster of Evansville and Courtney Perkins and her husband Dustin of Jasper; three grandchildren, Connor, Dominick, and Lexi; one sister, Susan Wheatley of Jasper; two brothers, Mark Hopster and his wife Cheryl of Jasper and Steve Hopster of Jasper; John’s dog, Coco.

Preceding him in death besides his parents is one sister, Sara Hedinger.

Funeral services for John A. Hopster will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, March 23, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2015, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
