John A. Dittmer

John A. Dittmer, age 50, died peacefully at his home in Jasper, Indiana, on December 23, 2011.

John was born on February 2, 1961, in Jasper, to Jim and Marilyn (Klein) Dittmer and married Tara (Lampert) Dittmer on November 20, 1982.

Along with his wife and parents, John is survived by his daughter, Jill Hafeli, and her husband, Ben, of Decatur, Georgia;

Son, Neil

Dittmer of Paoli, Indiana;

Sister, Ann Hazelgrove (husband Don) of Bainbridge, Indiana, and Mary Obermeier (husband Ron) of Newburgh, Indiana;

Five nieces and nephew.

John was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edgar and Victoria Dittmer and Alphonse and Elfrieda Klein.

John graduated from Jasper High School and attended Indiana State University, where he earned his BS in Marketing in 1983. He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church, where he actively volunteered and Was a hospitality minister and served on the stewardship committee.

Above all, John’s greatest joy was being a parent. He dearly loved his wife, his children and his church.

He was a lover of sports and coached and supported many youth teams through the years. He was an avid fan of University of Kentucky Basketball, the Pittsburg Pirates, the Jasper Wildcats and the Paoli Rams.

John worked in the office furniture industry for 20 years, and most recently in the outdoor power equipment business.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the Becher-Kluesner downtown Chapel on Tuesday, December 27, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. A celebration of Life and funeral mass will be held on December 28, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Precious Blood Catholic Church. Private burial services will be held at a later date.
