Joan L. (Houchin) Brown, 72, Jasper

Joan L. (Houchin) Brown, 72, of Jasper, passed away at 10:05 a.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at her home.

She was born at Winchester, Virginia, on July 16, 1946, to Ernest and Cleo (Leech) Letterman. She married Gordon Houchin and he preceded her in death on January 9, 2013.

Joan retired from Executive Furniture Company in Huntingburg where she worked for many years

She was a member of Auxiliary to V.F.W. 3587 and Moose Lodge 1617 both of Petersburg, Indiana.

She is survived by two daughters, Cathy (Alan) Cherry of Huntingburg and  Karen (Patrick) Andry of Birdseye; one son, Mark Chamness of Jasper; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Jeanette Meyer of Jasper; two brothers, Conley (Mary) Letterman of Jasper and Stanley Letterman of Haysville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Houchin and one brother, Gayle Letterman.

Memorial services for Joan Brown will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 15, 2018, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper with burial to follow at a later date at Mt Zion Cemetery at Monroe City, Indiana.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the service time at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
