Joan H. Fuhs, 88

Joan H. Fuhs, age 88, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 5:50 p.m., Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper

She was born January 26, 1925 in Huntingburg, Indiana to Felix and Cora (Yaeger) Sermersheim.

She was united in marriage to Ralph “Fuzzy” Fuhs on February 18, 1947 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg.

Mrs. Fuhs retired from the First National Bank in Huntingburg where she worked as a bank teller and bookkeeper. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church; a charter member of the V.F.W. Post #2366 Ladies Auxiliary; and loved watching sports – especially the Southridge Raiders, St. Louis Cardinals and I.U. basketball.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Ralph “Fuzzy” Fuhs, who died September 27, 2008; an infant daughter; one son, Tom Fuhs; her son-in-law, Howard Brown; a grandson, Kevin Brown; three sisters – Bernardine Sermersheim, Mary Louise Uebelhor and Claretta Prior; and five brothers – Leroy, Donald, Wilfred, Bernard and Bob Sermersheim.

She is survived by:

Funeral services for Joan H. Fuhs will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.D.T., on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 3:00-8:00 p.m., on Tuesday.

A parish rosary prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Tuesday afternoon, and a V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday evening, both at the funeral home.
