Jina “Rachelle” Johns, 54, of Winslow, unexpectedly passed on July 31, 2026.

Rachelle was born on February 28, 1972, in Jasper, Indiana, to James Richard and Nancy Darlene Johns.

Rachelle was a proud graduate of Pike Central High School, where she excelled in both softball and basketball. Her love for athletics continued into college, where she went on to play softball. Rachelle found joy in watching and playing many sports, but nothing topped IU basketball.

Rachelle devoted many years to the Pike County Sheriff’s Office with dedication as a dispatcher and matron.

Rachelle treasured the time she spent fishing with her dad, sharing peaceful days on the water and good conversations, a bond she deeply treasured and some of her happiest memories.

Rachelle was a cherished daughter, niece and loved one. She was loved by all and will truly be missed. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Rachelle is survived by her parents, James Richard and Nancy Darlene Johns; her brother, Richard Johns; her nieces, Sarah Elizabeth Johns and Reagen Johns; her uncle Eugene (Angela) Abbott; her cousins, Ashley (Jeremy) Hale, Chase (Ashely) Abbott, Alyx (Brodey) Nordhoff; and other extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents, Herschel and Bronice Abbott, James and Louise Johns; and several aunts, uncles, and extended family.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm (Eastern Standard Time) at Lamb Basham Memorial Chapel. A service will begin at 1:00 pm (Eastern Standard Time) with burial to follow at Montgomery Cemetery. Reverend Frank Coleman will officiate.

After the graveside service, there will be a gathering and meal at Ayrshire Valley General Baptist Church in their fellowship hall. It is located across the street from the church in Ayrshire, IN.
