Jesse Braun, 59, Petersburg

Jesse Braun, 59, of Petersburg, passed away on August 9, 2025.

Born November 7, 1965, in Washington Hospital to Delmas and Carolyn Hamm, Jesse lived a life marked by generosity, dedication, and love for his family and friends.

He is survived by his children, Tiffany Scraper (Justin), Heather Braunecker, and Gage Braun (Kaylee); grandchildren, Weslynn, Wylynn, Hunter, Remington, Lillian, and Gavin; father, Delmas Hamm and stepmother, Jan Hamm; and sisters, Lisa Lough and Anita Sisk.

Preceded in death by his mother Carolyn Hamm.

Jesse enjoyed hunting, fishing, and driving a school bus. He was known for having a heart of gold and was always helping others, always putting the needs of family, friends, and neighbors first, never thinking about himself. Countless school bus riders considered Jesse a really good friend/mentor, with each “bus kid” treated like they were a part of his family.

Jesse’s legacy of kindness, compassion, and dedication to community will continue to live on in all of the lives he touched throughout the years. He was a one-of-a-kind person who would carry the weight of the world on his shoulders to protect those he cared for. He will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held for the public from 10 a.m. until noon on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. A private burial will take place with Pastor Jim Gidcumb officiating.
