Jerry Lamkin, Sr., 73

Jerry Wayne Lamkin, Sr., age 73, of Jasper, Indiana, formerly of Huntingburg, died at 7:20 p.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

He was born September 6, 1937 in Huntingburg to Merle and Lula (King) Lamkin. Mr. Lamkin retired as a Staff Sergeant after 20 years with the United States Air Force. During part of his tenure in the military he served overseas in the Vietnam War. He also worked for Styline before and after his military service. He was a member of the Huntingburg Fraternal Order of Eagles where he served as past president from 1995-96, was a former Cub Scout Leader of Pack #184, and was devoted to his loving dog, “Dino”. He was preceded in death by: one brother, Tom Lamkin.

  • Randy Blessinger – Louisville, Kentucky,

(one) grandson and (two) granddaughters.

Funeral services for Jerry Lamkin, Sr. will be held at 10:00 a.m., Eastern Daylight Time, on Thursday, September 8th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg. Burial will take place in a National Veterans Cemetery with military graveside rites. (Editors: the specific V.A. cemetery is pending.)

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., on Wednesday.
