Jerry Powell, 88, Petersburg

Jerry Powell, 88, of Petersburg, passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024, at Memorial Hospital in Jasper.

He was born to Loren and Ruth (Elkins) Powell on March 11, 1936, in Pike County, Ind.

Jerry retired from Indianapolis Power & Light after 20 years of service, working in the store department.  He was an avid IU basketball and Cardinals baseball fan and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Joann Marsee and Marylou Shafer.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; sons, Steve (Sheila), Greg, and Jay (Shelly) Powell; grandchildren, Jake (Mallory) and Cody Powell, Kailee (Brayden) Angermeier, Kyle (Josee), Cole, Kenzie and Connor Powell; great-grandchildren, Karter and Rayne Powell; and sister, Carol Joy Barker.

Jerry requested that no funeral services be held but wanted to be cremated with a memorial service for the family taking place at a later time.
