Jerry Marie Lorber, 79, Newburgh

Jerry Marie Lorber, 79, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2022, at The Village at Hamilton Pointe in Newburgh.

She was born December 16, 1943, in Shelbyville, Ind., to William Russell Gallagher and Ruth Marie (Hulsman) Gallagher.

Jerry was a graduate of St. Agnes Academy in Indianapolis. She was also a graduate of St. Vincent Nursing School / Marion College in Indianapolis as well. It was then that she earned her title as a registered nurse. Jerry was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She had a strong passion for gardening and always enjoyed the times she was able to be outdoors.

She married Dr. James Lorber on June 7, 1980, and he preceded her in death on December 12, 2006.

Jerry is survived by her son, Richard Michael Cochran (wife, Kande); daughter, Paula Marie Chapla; sister, Agnes Darby; brother, William Alan Gallagher (wife, Vickie); granddaughter, Kelsey Cochran (fiancé, Zack Harkness); grandson, Kamren Cochran; goddaughter, Heather Nichole Gallagher; godson, Sean Russell Gallagher (wife, Kari).

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother-in-law Richard Darby.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St., Shelbyville, IN. 46176. A Rosary will be held at the funeral home before the mass.
