Jerome Joseph Recker, 83, Wilmington, Calif.

Jerome Joseph Recker, 83, of Wilmington, Calif., passed away peacefully on Friday, August 16th, 2024.

Jerome was born in Jasper, Ind., on September 11, 1940, to Lee & Marie (Gehl) Recker.  

He married his high school sweetheart, Sandra Kuebler, on June 22, 1963, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, and they built a family and life filled with love and laughter.

After a honeymoon in California, they packed up their belongings and moved to California permanently so Jerome could fulfill his dream of becoming an airline mechanic. He attended Northrup Institute of Technology and interned for a year before landing his dream job at Continental Airlines. He retired after 40 years of service in 2005.

Jerome and Sandy were active parishioners with their church, St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Jerome enjoyed hiking with his friends and camping in the great outdoors with family and friends.

He is survived by Sandy, his wife of 61 years and his children, Karen (David) Guevara, Jeff (Mary) Recker, Steven (Karen) Recker, Therese (James) Montgomery, Jonathan (Glaiza) Recker, and Joseph Recker, along with 13 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Recker, his parents, Lee and Marie Recker, and his brothers, David & Leon Recker.

Visitation hours will be held on Thursday, August 29th, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Becher-Kluesner Funeral Home in Jasper, Indiana. A graveside service and burial will follow immediately at Fairview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
