Jerome H. Klein, 99, Jasper

Jerome H. Klein, 99, of Jasper, passed away at 4:25 p.m. Monday, August 28, 2017, in Cathedral Health Care in Jasper.

He was born in Jasper on August 19, 1918, to John and Mary (Kreilein) Klein. He married Hilda Mehringer on June 2, 1942. She preceded him in death on August 17, 2017.

Jerome retired from the former Jasper Novelty Furniture Company where he had worked for 45 years. He is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper and the Holy Name Society of St. Joseph.

He is survived by one daughter, Louise Ann Older (William) of Colbert, Wash.; son, James Klein (Sherry) of Louisville; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; one sister, Sr. Rosemary Klein, OSF of Mishawka.

Preceding him in death besides his wife are one son, Donald Klein and a grandson, James Klein Jr.  Two brothers, Alphonse “Foxey” and Ambrose “Bud” Klein and two sisters, Sr. Laurine Klein, OSF; and Marie Asbell.

Mass of Christian Burial for Jerome Klein will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, September 7, 2017, in St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper, Indiana.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
