Jeanne T. “Bettylu” Kemp, age 78, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 10:44 a.m., Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

She was born December 1, 1935 in Milford, New York, to Leonard and Audrey (Lynes) Thompkins. She married Billy Joe Kemp on September 5, 1954 in Pueblo, Colorado.

She was a factory worker and employed at Styline Corporation for 42 years. Bettylu was a member of the Huntingburg United Methodist Church and a founding member of Huntingburg’s Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary; she enjoyed crocheting and time spent outdoors gardening.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Knight.

She is survived by her husband, Billy Joe Kemp of Huntingburg; two sons and two daughter-in-laws, Ronald (Shannon) Kemp of Huntingburg and Kevin Lee (Lori) Kemp of Glen Allen, Va.; one daughter and son-in-law, Terri (James) Zink of Huntingburg; two sisters, Frances Seaman of Tuscumbia, Ala., and Barbara O’Keefe of Fresno, Cali.; by 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Jeanne “Bettylu” Kemp will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg. The Reverend Paula Young Mayberry will officiate at the services.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 11:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m., on Sunday, the day of the funeral.
