Jean Scherle, 80, of Jasper

Jean Scherle, 80, of Jasper, passed away at 5:00 a.m. today, Thursday, April 7, 2016, at her home.

She was born at Huntingburg to Willis and Marie (Vandver) Stillwell. She married Arnold L. Scherle on February 13, 1954, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg. He preceded her in death on September 22, 2003.

Jean worked as a certified nurse assistant at the former Providence Home Health Care in Jasper for over 40 years. Her hobbies were gardening, taking care of her pet cat, crocheting and especially, reading history.

Jean was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church and her prayer group.

She is survived by her daughter, Joni Jacob and her husband Dave of Ireland; sons, Kenneth Lee Scherle of Jasper, Timothy Allen Scherle of Houston, Texas, Jim Scherle and wife Mary of Huntingburg and Steve “Fuzz” Scherle of Ireland; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harold Stillwell and wife Helen and Tom Stillwell and wife Alice, all of Kyana.

Preceding her in death besides her husband are one sister Betty Stillwell and three brothers, Arvin, Jerome and Bob Stillwelll.

Funeral services for Jean Scherle will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016, in Precious Blood Catholic Church with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper.
