Jay C. Briggs, 66, Holland

Jay C. Briggs 66, of Holland, entered rest on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018, at Memorial Healthcare and Hospital in Jasper.

He was born on Jan. 14, 1952 in Oakland City to George and Elpha (Drew) Briggs.

Jay had worked at MasterBrand in Huntingburg for 14 years. He graduated from Wood Memorial High School.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mitzi Hartley.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Flora (Blair) Briggs; sons William J. Briggs of Evansville and Joshua D. Briggs of Haubstadt; stepsons, Richard W. Sanders of Holland, Adam M. Sanders of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Andy R. Sanders of Dale; eight grandchildren; and sisters Billie Pavey and Elizabeth (Tom) Ruble Of Evansville, Marna (Todd) Miller of Oakland City, Vickie (Charles) McGowan of Francisco and Georgia (Don) Curtis of Princeton; and brothers, Michael “Brenda” Briggs and David (Lori) Briggs of Oakland City, Patrick (Bee) Briggs of Princeton and Bobby Briggs of Indianapolis.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018, at the Somerville Cemetery in Somerville. Rev Gene Burkhart will be officiating. Family and friends will gather at the cemetery.
