Jasper’s Downtown Revitalization project begins second phase

The City of Jasper is set to begin the second phase of work on the Downtown Revitalization project.

Once again, Ragle Construction will be completing the work one section at a time as they extend the improved areas from the existing renovated sections north and south along Main Street. Improvements reflect what has been accomplished around the Square minus the paver parking spaces. Improvements include the addition of new curb and guttering, ADA-compliant sidewalks and curb ramps. Electric supply and storm sewer infrastructure will also be updated.

The company will first work on the southern portion of Main Street.

Next week, signs will start to go up on Main Street, notifying the public of the construction set to begin over the two blocks between Third Street and Fifth Street. That section of the road will close to all traffic beginning the week of September 3 as crews begin demolition.

Construction is expected to be completed by Thanksgiving, and there will be no construction on the project during the Christmas season until January 3, 2025.

Construction on the northern portion of Main Street between Seventh and Ninth Streets will begin after January 3 and is expected to completed by the spring however, completion depends on the weather and materials.

During all the work, all buildings on the street will be accessible by foot traffic. Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) maps, parking maps, and schedule details will be provided on the City of Jasper’s website, JasperIndiana.gov, as soon as they are available.
