Jasper Water capacity to be restricted as new system connected
Beginning next Tuesday, June 2, the Jasper Water Filtration Plant water production capacity will be temporarily restricted.
This is due to connection of the newly mandated Ultra-Violet purification system to the Jasper Water Filtration Plant. The Water Filtration Plant will only be able to run at half the capacity from June 2 to June 5.
That capacity has historically been adequate for this time of year.
According to the department, it does not foresee any problems with supplying the needs of the city during this time period and will be constantly monitoring the status of the entire system.
Should unforeseen events occur that deplete the water reserves within the city, the public will be notified of any measures that will be needed to help conserve water until the water reserves are reestablished. These measures may include such things as not watering lawns or gardens, not washing vehicles at home, not filling swimming pools, not washing outside surfaces, and keeping other water usage at a minimum.
During this time, the Jasper Water Department wants to assure the public that the water that is produced will be safe for consumption and they do not foresee any discoloration of the water. If this condition happens please run the cold water tap for a few minutes until it clears.
Any questions can be addressed to the Jasper Water Department at (812) 482-5252.
