Jasper teen injured in crash could face charges
Charges are pending for a Jasper teen who was injured in a single-vehicle traffic accident early Sunday morning, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies responded to State Road 164 east of Greener Road at about 12:40 a.m. for the report of a 2008 Chevrolet Impala that had ran off the road and ended up in a yard.
According to deputies, Joshua Kiefer, 17, of Brosmer St., Jasper, was eastbound on State Road 164 in the car when he hit a patch of ice just east of Greener Road. According to authorities, the vehicle had begun to spin left as it went off the north side of the road. After the car had left the road, it continued sliding and according to deputies, may have overturned before glancing off a tree in the yard. The car continued in the yard until it hit another tree.
Kiefer was treated for facial injuries at that scene and then transported by ambulance to Memorial Hospital.
According to authorities, charges are pending for Kiefer.
Memorial Hospital, Celestine Volunteer Fire Department and a Uebelhor and Sons wrecker assisted at the scene.
