Jasper student receives top honors for speech at Indiana State Fair

Haley Hallett, 14, of Velpen, received top honors at the 2023 Indiana State Fair on August 13 for her short speech on women’s empowerment.

She was presented with a Blue Ribbon with Special Merit in Public Speaking – Junior Division for her speech about her experiences and challenges participating in the Boy Scouts of America.

Haley attends Jasper High School and is the daughter of Chris and Shanna Hallett. She has participated in the Pike County 4-H program for nine years.
