Jasper seeking overview of utility operation

The Jasper Board of Public Works approved a portion of a $50,000 contract with H. J. Umbaugh and Associates and Barnes and Thornberg LLP to complete an overview examination of the city’s utilities.

The contract will be split between the civil city budget and the utilities; $25,000 each. The board of public works approved their portion of the contract Tuesday morning. The Jasper Utility Service Board will consider their portion in an upcoming meeting.

The contract will have the firms examining the operational aspects for the city’s utility departments to determine if any changes need to be considered for the future of the city’s growth.
