Jasper resident charged with molestation and sexual battery

On Wednesday, Huntingburg police arrested a Jasper resident, charging him with felony counts of child molestation and sexual battery.

According to police, they launched an investigation into allegations that Serfin Mendoza, Lopez, 34, had inappropriately touched an 11-year-old female in 2020. Crisis Connection made the report to police on October 21, 2024.

With the assistance of the Dubois County Department of Child and Family Services, Huntingburg Detective Derrick Beier launched an investigation into the allegation.

Detective Beier questioned Lopez and, after further investigation with assistance from the Indiana State Police, arrested him on one Level 4 felony count of child molestation and one Level 6 felony count of sexual battery.

He was lodged in the Dubois County Security Center.
