Jasper receives new fire rescue truck

Fire Rescue One is set to take over the busy schedule that Squad One has held on the Jasper Volunteer Fire Department since 1995.
The department received the new fire rescue truck last Friday to replace Squad One which with its Swiss-Army-Knife abilities, fulfilled several duties on emergency scenes.

With the truck’s age and the advent of new technology though, Chief Kenny Hochgesang requested and received permission to order the new rescue unit in April of 2016. The trucks take up to nine months to be built.
The new $577,796.07 truck was built by SVI (Super Vacuum Manufacturing Inc.) in Fort Collins, Colo. It features a vehicle strut system for stability in overturned vehicles, improved lighting, additional tools more storage and other new technology needed at emergency scenes.
The Fire Rescue will be placed into duty at Jasper Fire Station 1 on East 6th Street with the current Squad One being kept as a back-up at Fire Station 2 in the Holy Family neighborhood.
The Fire Rescue will be formally dedicated in front of City Hall at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23. It will be debuted in the Strassenfest Parade on Sunday, August 6.
