Jasper RC Flyers to host free open house June 20

The Jasper RC Flyers will host a free open house on Saturday, June 20, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Jasper RC Flyers flying field.

The public is invited to come see what radio-controlled flying is all about. The event is open to all ages and is designed for people who have never flown a radio-controlled airplane before.

Visitors will be able to fly an RC airplane with help from experienced instructor pilots, and no prior experience or equipment is needed. The club will also have a family-friendly activity where children can decorate and fly chuck gliders, giving younger guests a simple hands-on taste of model aviation.

Club members will be on hand throughout the morning to answer questions, explain the hobby in plain language, and help guests feel at ease.

“We just want people to come out, have some fun, and see how welcoming this hobby really is,” said Jeremy Church, president of the Jasper RC Flyers. “If you’ve ever been curious about RC flying, this is a great chance to give it a try and meet the people behind the club”.

We are excited to announce that HobbyKing and Flite Test have donated giveaway airplanes, t-shirts, and other items for the event, adding a few extra surprises for those who stop by.  HobbyKing has donated a plug-and-fly Bixler 1.1 airplane that will be a good beginning airplane. Flite Test has donated a Might Mini Explorer speed build kit, a set of EZ3 First Flyers, several Flite Test T-shirts and keychains.

“We are really excited about the generosity of the sponsors and willingness to encourage new people into the hobby.” said Jeremy Church, president of the Jasper RC Flyers.

The Jasper RC Flyers flying field is located at 1103 S 350 W in Jasper. The event is free, and the club encourages families, students, and anyone curious about aviation to stop in, fly a radio-controlled airplane, and ask questions.
