Jasper police seeking hit-and-run truck
Jasper — Police are looking for a red pickup truck that struck a car at the Sixth and MacArthur Street intersection Monday at 5:45 p.m.
Tina Gill, 51, of Dodge Street, Jasper, was in a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta stopped behind several vehicles on Sixth Street waiting on the traffic light at the intersection. While she was waiting, a red truck with orange lights and an extended bed pulled from the Tienda Latina parking lot, 716 West Sixth Street, and struck the rear of Gill’s car.
The truck then turned into the Liberty Tax parking lot, 707 West Sixth Street, and Gill followed in her vehicle, but the truck continued through the parking lot and left the scene on U.S. 231.
Gill told police she didn’t notice any markings on the truck but thought there may have been. Only one person was in the truck.
Jasper police are asking that if anyone has information about the accident or the identity of the driver, they contact the department at 812-482-2255 or the anonymous tip line at 812-481-2677 (COPS).
Gill’s car had damages to the left rear bumper, paint scrapes and a cracked brake light.
