Jasper Police recover over $20,000 in stolen merchandise

Two Alabama residents were arrested with merchandise stolen from multiple Home Depots, including the Jasper store, according to police.

The pair was detected when a member of the asset protection team at the Jasper location found an unusually high number of power tools listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace and contacted the Jasper Police Department on December 12 to report potential thefts from the store.

According to police, Rajean Sanders, 22 and Kyle Noftle, 26, were determined to be suspects in thefts that had occurred from the Jasper Home Depot on Dec. 10 and Dec. 11. While attempting to locate the suspects in Jasper, police were called to the Home Depot store where the pair were allegedly attempting to take more items from the store.

Upon further investigation, the two suspects were found to have approximately $4,000 in stolen property in their vehicle at the time.

A subsequent search warrant was obtained for a local hotel where the two suspects were currently staying. During the execution of the search warrant, approximately $15,000 in stolen goods were found in their hotel room, police said. The majority being power tools and other miscellaneous goods.

The total amount of stolen property seized from Sanders and Noftle was approximately $20,000.

The pair was charged with Level 6 felony retail theft, Level 6 felony theft over $750, and Class A misdemeanor theft.

In coordination with The Home Depot’s asset protection corporate team, the items were found to have been stolen from multiple states and locations. According to Detective Greg Brescher, the two appeared to be hitting stores located along U.S. 231.
