A man wanted for burglary, theft and auto theft had to be tased after a long foot pursuit through Jasper Sunday evening.

According to authorities, they were notified that Kyle A. Peckinpaugh, 19, no home address listed, was located at a Main Street residence in Jasper at about 9 p.m.

Police said that when they arrived at the residence, Peckinpaugh saw them and fled on foot. Officers pursued him through several alleys, yards, across parking lots and busy highways.

Officers told Peckinpaugh to stop running but refused. After running across U.S. 231, in the process almost being struck by a passing vehicle, he attempted to hide in a garage of a nearby residence. After police found him, he ran again and officers told him to stop or they would tase him.

Peckinpaugh refused and officers tased him and were able to take him into custody.

During the arrest, officers located a bag containing marijuana and a pipe on Peckinpaugh’s person.

After being treated by Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services for the taser deployment, Peckinpaugh was booked into the Dubois County Security Center for felony counts of burglary, auto theft and theft as well as the added misdemeanor counts of resisting law enforcement, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
