Jasper police asking for help in crash investigation

Jasper police are asking for witnesses of a two-vehicle crash at the Newton and Third streets that occurred at 2:40 p.m. on Monday to come forward.

According to police, Bonnie Huff, 34, of E. State Road 62, Ferdinand, was northbound on Newton Street in a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze when she stopped for the stop sign at Newton and Third.  Christa Hulen, 27, of W. 7th Street, Jasper, was eastbound on Third in a 2011 Kia and stopped for the stop sign as well.

Both drivers told police they did not see the other vehicle before pulling into the intersection and crashed.

Police said Hulen was examined at the scene for an existing medical condition by Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Personnel.

Hulen’s Kia had about $7,500 in damages and Huff’s Chevrolet had about $2,500.
