Jasper police arrest two associated with aggressive sales tactics

A pair of Texas residents known in the area by local police for their aggressive door-to-door sales tactics were arrested after Jasper police were called to the Jasper Inn in reference to a fight overnight.

Police were called to the inn at about 1:51 a.m. and made contact with Steven Walton, 40, and Christopher Ellingburg, 32, both of Texas, in room 123. According to police, the two had been drinking and began to fight when an argument Walton was having with his girlfriend woke up Ellingburg.

Both were charged with disorderly conduct and booked into the Dubois County Security Center.

According to police, the two are part of a group of aggressive sales people in the area selling cleaning products.

The police department has received multiple complaints from residents and advised the public to use caution if they come to their home to sell products.
