Jasper man arrested for allegedly shoplifting $670 of merchandise

Jasper — Jasper police arrested Gerald C. Bates Jr., 32, of N. Kellerville Road, for theft after being called to the Walmart Supercenter Tuesday at 7:44 p.m.

According to police, Walmart personnel had detained Bates after he attempted to take $671.74 of merchandise from the store in a shopping cart. Those items included a sub-woofer, speakers, AV receiver, washcloths, a sheet set, trowel and trimmer.

Police charged Bates with theft and booked him into the Dubois County Security Center.
