Jasper 14 Year Old All Stars lose to Arkansas in game three

The Jasper Babe Ruth 14 Year Old All Stars got behind early and lost to defending champion Arkansas 10 – 2 in World Series play at Moses Lake, Washington on Monday.

The Arkansas team, who won last year’s Babe Ruth World Series as 13 Year Olds, jumped out to a 5–0 lead in the first and never looked back.

Jasper’s only run production came in the fourth inning when Andrew Schmitt and Jared Sermersheim both reached on errors, Schmitt scored, and Adam Hedinger belted an RBI double.

Jasper managed only two hits to Arkansas’s 13. Both teams committed three errors.

Connor O’Brien pitched 2 and 1/3 for Jasper and got the loss. Ethan Schroeder pitched 3 and 2/3 in relief.

Jasper is now 1 -2 in the 5-team National Division Pool which includes teams from New York, Kansas, Arkansas, and host Moses Lake, Washington. The top three teams in that division after four pool play games will advance to the single elimination round on Thursday.

Jasper is off on Tuesday and plays host Moses Lake, Washington Wednesday at 11:00 p.m. EDT. Jasper can still advance to the championship round of six with a win over Moses Lake on Wednesday night and a Kansas loss.
