Jasper Jaycees celebrate excellence at second annual awards ceremony

On Saturday, January 10, 2026, the Jasper Jaycees proudly hosted their second annual awards ceremony, recognizing the outstanding dedication, leadership, and community service of members throughout 2025.

The evening was led by outgoing 2025 President, Madelyn Blaize, as volunteers who have gone above and beyond in service to both the organization and the community were honored for their contributions. Dinner was catered by Oink Inc Smokehouse & Catering, followed by cookies from Sisters Sweet Treats.

2025 Award Recipients

Jasper Jaycees Award

Presented to a longstanding volunteer whose dedication has made a lasting impact on the organization and community.

Recipient: Eric Hopf

Jaycees Comedian Award

Recognizing the volunteer who brings humor and positivity, even on the toughest days.

Recipient: Eric Hopf

Eric Hopf joined the Jasper Jaycees in 2014 after witnessing the impact the organization makes through its community events. Over the years, he has served in numerous leadership roles, including Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Local Director, and now proudly serves as the 2026 Vice President. He also manages the Strassenfest Beer Garden—one of his favorite roles—valuing both the energy of the event and its importance in funding the Jaycees’ community initiatives.

Behind-the-Scenes Hero Award

Honoring the unsung hero whose tireless efforts keep everything running smoothly.

Recipient: Luke Blaize

A 10-year member, Luke Blaize works at Kimball Electronics. He served as Executive Secretary in 2025 and has previously held the roles of President, Vice President, and Treasurer on the Jaycees. He also coordinates Jaycees Clubhouse rentals. His favorite part of being a Jaycees member is supporting events and giving back through service and donations.

Sidekick Salute Award

Recognizing a member who consistently goes the extra mile to support the team and its projects.

Recipient: Oscar Torres

Since joining in 2020, Oscar Torres has found purpose, growth, and lifelong friendships through his involvement with the Jasper Jaycees. What began as a way to get involved in the community quickly became a defining part of his life. Through service, teamwork, and leadership opportunities, he has grown more confident, compassionate, and committed to making a difference. He is proud to be part of an organization that cares so deeply about its community.

Heart of Gold Award

Awarded to an individual who demonstrates unwavering compassion and empathy in their volunteer work.

Recipient: Janelle Taylor

Janelle Taylor has been a member of the Jasper Jaycees for more than seven years and works at German American Bank. She also serves as a board member for Operation Mind, Body and Soul Corp and Creating Community Connections, and is an auxiliary member of the Southern Indiana Leatherneck Detachment #931. She actively volunteers with Toys for Tots, Dubois County Relay for Life, and the Dubois County Humane Society.

Within the Jaycees, she previously served as Treasurer and currently serves as the 2026 Director of Marketing. She especially enjoys volunteering at signature events, including the Strassenfest Bier Garten, Golf Scramble, and Easter Egg Hunt. The organization’s family-friendly atmosphere allows her to involve her children in service projects, teaching them the value of giving back and making a positive impact in the community.
