Jasper issues boil order for Bartley and MacArthur residents

Late Monday afternoon, a water line at the 13th and Bartley streets intersection broke.

Due to the nature of this work the City of Jasper Gas & Water Department has issued a neighborhood boil order effective immediately for all customers along these streets: Bartley Street from 9th Street to 15th Street; MacArthur Street from 9th Street to 13th Street; and 13th Street from Bartley to MacArthur.

The area affected includes St. Thomas Medical Center.

A boil water advisory is issued when some type of event has created the potential for contamination to enter the water supply.

City officials will be testing water samples over the next few days to determine when the water is safe to consume.
