Jasper Inn downsizes with Jasper Engines purchase
Jasper Engines & Transmissions will purchase a large portion of the Jasper Inn to create parking and storage space for the growing business’s needs.
Gagandeep Basra, owner of the Jasper Inn, announced the purchase of a portion of the existing Jasper Inn, by Old Hotel, a subsidiary of Jasper Engines and Transmissions.
Under the purchase agreement, Jasper Engines and Transmissions will acquire the existing 130 room main hotel, lounge, Convention Center, dome recreation area and various other areas of the hotel as well as a portion of the property immediately surrounding the establishment. Jasper Engines and Transmissions will utilize the area for parking and storage.
Basra has plans to turn the remaining annex building on the properties southwest area into a 67-room hotel with lobby and indoor pool. Remodeling and construction is expected to be completed by July of next year. The new hotel will retain the Jasper Inn name.
The existing Convention Center will permanently close on January 1, 2017.
Basra added that all scheduled events will be honored through December 31, 2016. He also stated that the hotel portion will maintain uninterrupted service during the various construction phases.
“We are pleased and excited to have been able to work with Jasper Engines and Transmissions,” Basra said in a press release. “The changes will allow us to direct our focus on creating a quality lodging experience through the completely remodeled Annex, while providing Jasper Engines and Transmissions with much needed parking and storage capacity.”
Doug Bawel, CEO of Jasper Engines and Transmissions, stated that parking and storage have become important for the growing company and the purchase of the property adjacent to the Wernsing Road location was a good move.
“It has been a pleasure working with Gagan and his organization. As our company continues to experience significant growth, both in our number of associate-owners as well as physical size, parking and storage become an important need,” Bawel said. “The purchase of a portion of the Jasper Inn facilities will allow us to efficiently utilize our Wernsing Road facility, which is currently undergoing an expansion process. We see this purchase as a win-win for both of our organizations as well as means to revitalize the area surrounding both of our facilities.”
