Jasper, Huntingburg announce storm debris collection, disposal activities

Jasper and Huntingburg have announced ways for residents to remove debris from the early morning Saturday storms.

The City of Huntingburg Street Department will conduct storm damage limb pickup through Monday, March 24, 2025. To have your limbs picked up, please place them at the curb. There is no need to cut or bundle the limbs. To ensure your limbs are collected, you must contact Huntingburg City Hall at (812)683-2211 to be added to the pickup list. The Street Department will collect limbs as time permits. After Monday, March 24, 2025, all remaining limbs will be subject to the regular limb policy, which requires bundling.

The Jasper Street Department will also be collecting storm damage this week. During this collection, the 4-foot length and bundling requirements will be waived. They ask that you stack your limbs in an organized pile parallel to the street to avoid the need for heavy equipment to enter your yard. Please note that root balls from trees will not be picked up, nor will any materials other than tree limbs, tree trunks, and yard waste. Shingles, building debris, and trash will not be collected.

In Jasper, the city has extended the hours of the Resource Recovery Site this week (March 17 through March 21) from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for residents to dispose of debris. It will also be open on Saturday, March 22, from 7 a.m. to noon. Jasper taxpayers can drop off tree limbs and yard waste only; they do not accept trash, shingles or building materials.
