Jasper High School students’ special project on display at Thyen-Clark Cultural Center
An exhibit by Jasper High School tenth graders, “Capturing History,” an arts-integrated project in the World History classroom, is on display through December 18th.
The exhibit The Workshop Wing of the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center.
Connection to each other, to history, and to community is at the heart of the project design.
“Capturing History” is designed to allow students to recognize their place in history and connect with their world through a historical lens. The project seeks to build awareness of how current cultures, organizations, and policies are influenced by those that came before.
To accomplish this, students photographically captured assigned historical themes — social, political, environmental, cultural, economic, and innovational — in their daily lives and personal experiences, all while relating them to the past.
The project is made possible by the Indiana Arts Commission’s Indiana Educator Fellowship for Creative Teaching.
Students in Mrs. Grant’s history classroom will receive extra credit for visiting and commenting on the exhibit.
