The Jasper High School Parent Teacher Organization recently awarded six $500 scholarship to selected members of the 2015 graduating class.
Scholarship recipients were chosen based on a rubric that scored their involvement in school activities, honors they had received, community involvement as well as accomplishments and contributions made to JHS during their years as a student. Their grade point averages were also a consideration.
The following students received the scholarships.
Vanessa Hickman is the daughter of Becky Hickman and Steve Hickman. She is attending University of Indianapolis this fall and will be majoring in Business and Communication.Claire Egler is the daughter of Cathy and Kenny Egler. She will be attending Bellarmine University majoring in Nursing.Blake Knies is the son of Suzanne and Daniel Knies. He will be attending University of Evansville majoring in Mechanical Engineering.Sophie Weidenbenner is the daughter of Shari and Tim Weidenbenner. She will be attending Purdue University. She will be majoring in Chemical Engineering.Alexis Mehringer is the daughter of Laurie and Todd Mehringer. She will be attending Indiana University. She will be majoring in Non-Profit Management.Noah Whalen is the son of Shelley and Steve Whalen. He will be attending University of Evansville. He will be majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
