Jasper High School Principal Hacker to move into Assistant Superintendent position
Another step in completing the new school administration of the Greater Jasper School Corporation was taken yesterday during the Greater Jasper Consolidated School Board meeting.
The School board promoted Jasper High School principal Bob Hacker to Assistant Superintendent effective the end of this school year.
Hacker – who has been principal for three years – will replace out-going Assistant Mike Hile who, along with Superintendent Dr. Jerrill Vandeventer, submitted retirement requests to the board, effective at the end of the current school year in May 2012.
Hacker stated he was very thankful and humbled to be chosen for the position. He explained he will miss working with the wonderful teaching staff and being involved with the kids at the high school, but he looked forward to the new challenges and the addition of working with the elementary schools. “I want to stay in touch with the kids,” Hacker said, “and make Jasper Consolidated Schools the best they can be.”
Hacker has been in the teaching profession for 26 years. He served as principle of East Decatur High School for seven years before transferring to Jasper High School where he has been principle for three years.
Vandeventer has been Superintendent for 6 years. Hile has been with the School Corporation his entire 42-year career.
Hacker joins Dr. Tracey Lorey as the new faces of the school administration, which will carry on the work of their predecessors.
Dr. Lorey was officially named Superintendent in December to replace Vandeventer.
The board is now faced with the decision on replacing Dr. Lorey with a new curriculum director and a new principal for Jasper High School.
