Jasper Group soapbox derby to mark 150 years, raise money for Child Advocacy Center

Jasper — Seven soapbox cars built by Jasper Group employees will race down West 5th Street this Saturday, October 24, to celebrate the company’s 150th anniversary and raise money for the Southwestern Indiana Child Advocacy Center Coalition (SWICACC), a local nonprofit dedicated to helping children.
Built by teams from across Jasper Group, the cars reflect the hands-on ingenuity and friendly competition that have
shaped the company’s culture. The employee-built cars will take to the course, with young drivers from team members’ families behind the wheel.
“We’re inviting the community to come out and cheer them on as we celebrate craftsmanship, friendly competition and support for a meaningful local cause,” said Brittany Scherzer, the company’s Brand and Communications Manager.
Here is a fun video about the development of the cars and the upcoming competition.
The formal program starts at 2 p.m. The first heat is expected around 2:10 p.m. Will Shapiro will host a Facebook Live broadcast beginning at 1:30 p.m., which will be available on the company’s Facebook page.
