Jasper Fire Department responds to house fire

A fire was reported on the 1300 block of Jackson Street in Jasper.
The Jasper Fire Department responded to a fire at  1321 Jackson Street Friday at about 5:13 p.m. Friday evening.

According to authorities, the fire was started when a pan of grease was left on a stove unattended in an upstairs apartment at the home owned by Sandra Harder.

The fire caused extensive damage to the upstairs apartment. The rest of the home had smoke and water damage.

No one was injured and firefighters rescued a pet cat.

The Jasper Fire Department was at the home about an hour and a half with five trucks and 30 firefighters.

The Jasper Police Department and Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services assisted
