Jasper, Ferdinand grads join City of Jasper as summer interns

The City of Jasper has hired two new interns for the summer of 2017 to help in two of the city’s departments over the coming months.

Gress

Libby Gress joined the Community Development and Planning Department as their 2017 summer intern.  The Ferdinand-native is a recent graduate of Indiana University and plans to return to the Bloomington campus for graduate school in the fall.

Under the supervision of Director Darla Blazey, Libby will contribute to the creation of an online interactive map of Jasper highlighting the city’s top economic and community development projects. She will prepare reports of Jasper’s demographic and economic development information. Libby will also aid in creating new permit and application packets, taking minutes and attendance at meetings, update the city’s website, and other work for the Community Development and Planning Department.

Kissel

Morgan Kissell, a Jasper native, will join the Jasper Arts Department as their 2017 summer intern. Morgan will be a junior this coming fall at Indiana University Purdue University in Indianapolis (IUPUI) where she will continue her studies in photography and design production.

As the arts department intern, her responsibilities include aiding facilitation of the Chalk Walk (June 3) and “ARTventures”, periodic workshops for children to sign up and learn advanced art skills. Morgan will help the arts department create content for their social media profiles including Facebook and Instagram.  She will also design the 2017-2018 gallery schedule brochure among other work for the Arts department.

“The City of Jasper values the insight and talent of the intern process and we are delighted to help in the education of each intern employed by the City of Jasper,” said Mayor Terry Seitz.
