Jasper Farmers’ Market opens tomorrow
The 2012 market begins Saturday, May 26 and continues through Saturday, October 6. The market is located under the large oak tree north of the Jasper Train Depot. Market hours will be 7:30 -11:30am all season long.
The purpose of the market is to provide an additional stream of revenue to local producers while offering fresh produce and products to customers. All while gathering in nice area to develop a greater sense of community.
The market provides an opportunity for growers, bakers, crafters, and artisans to sell goods grown, baked, and created by themselves or their immediate families.
Market items will include organically grown produce (varieties of beans, tomatoes, beets, squash, lettuce, carrots and herbs), Amish produce and goods, a variety of fruits and vegetables and other conventionally homegrown produce, handmade soaps and lotions, and several other forms of handmade goods.
The cost of vending is $65 for the entire season, which includes an assigned spot and Strassenfest weekend. The cost for one day of vending is $5 with same day sign-up from 7 a.m. Vendors may pickup Vendor Agreement packets at Jasper Chamber of Commerce or Jasper City Hall. Anyone with questions may leave a message for Market Master Joseph Huddleston at 812-827-8522 or visit http://www.facebook.com/JasperIndianaFarmersMarket.
New this year, we will be offering one-time booths for local youth/student groups that do not meet vendor requirements but are looking to holding a fund raiser. Applicants should call ahead to ensure eligibility.
To build community among musicians, open jam sessions at the market are welcome. Don’t be afraid to put out a tip jar and smile for the camera.
The Jasper Farmers’ Market is a volunteer community event sponsored by the Greater Downtown Jasper Business Association.
