Jasper Downtown Revitalization Phase II update for May 17

The Downtown Revitalization Phase II Project in Jasper is moving forward, with current work centered on North Main Street between 7th and 9th Streets.

City officials expect both blocks to remain closed for most of the construction period.

A project update released on May 17 outlines the upcoming construction schedule, subject to weather conditions and material availability.

This week, crews are finishing concrete work at the 7th and Main intersection. They’re pouring the north half of German American Bank’s drive, while traffic continues to exit to the south.

Between 8th and 9th Streets on Main Street, workers are demolishing sidewalks and working on stormwater systems.

Next week, construction shifts to the south half of German American Bank’s drive. The newly finished north half will reopen, allowing traffic to exit north to 8th Street.

City officials assure that “foot traffic will have access to all building entrances throughout the project.” They also note that German American Bank’s drive-thru remains open for now.
