Jasper Downtown Revitalization update Sept. 17
The second phase of Jasper’s downtown revitalization project is wrapping up, with major work completed and final touches on the horizon.
Traffic is now flowing freely through the intersection at 9th and Main Street, as well as along the rest of Main Street.
Next week, construction crews will be milling and paving Main Street between 7th and 9th streets. This stretch will be closed during the work, with road striping to follow. The travel lanes from 3rd to 5th Street are also getting a fresh surface.
The following week, workers will re-stripe 3rd to 5th streets and put in the remaining tent anchors. Cleanup and last-minute fixes are set for the first week of October.
If the weather cooperates, the project’s final phase kicks off mid-October with the planting of trees and sod.
City officials want to reassure residents that you’ll still be able to walk to all building entrances throughout the project.
Drivers, take note: There are new four-way stop signs at the intersections of 5th and Main, and 7th and Main streets.
The project team – including folks from Ragle Construction, REA, VS Engineering, and the City of Jasper – met on September 17 to review progress and nail down the schedule for the remaining work.
Keep in mind that weather and material availability might shift these timelines a bit.
