Jasper Downtown Revitalization project update
Jasper’s Downtown Revitalization Phase II Project is moving forward despite recent setbacks caused by last month’s ice storm, according to city officials.
Construction teams are working to compensate for lost time, focusing on pouring curbs, ADA ramps, and sidewalks between 3rd and 4th Streets. The current road closure in this area is expected to continue until mid-February.
Visitors and customers of businesses in the area will still be able to access all building entrances on foot throughout the project.
Drivers should expect occasional lane closures on 3rd Avenue due to work at the Main Street intersection. During these closures, westbound traffic will use the center lane.
The project’s second phase, which covers Main Street from 7th to 9th Streets, is set to kick off in mid-March. This part of the project is slated for completion in spring 2025. Work will begin between 7th and 8th Streets and once that’s almost done, it will move to the section between 8th and 9th.
In early March, Main Street will be closed from 7th to 8th Streets for about two to three days for stormwater work. The road will reopen after this initial work is finished.
Officials caution that there will be occasional closures as work progresses, with a full closure necessary when removing asphalt.
The project timeline may shift depending on weather and material availability.
Meetings with contractor representatives will continue every two weeks throughout construction. The city plans to provide updates bi-weekly or as new information becomes available.
