Jasper Downtown Revitalization Project construction update
A collaborative meeting on the Downtown Revitalization Phase II Project was held on January 22nd, involving Ragle Construction, REA, VS Engineering, and City of Jasper representatives, who outlined ongoing and upcoming infrastructure improvements.
Current stormwater work on Main Street includes a closure between the 3rd and 4th Street intersections through the first week of February.
At 3rd Avenue and Main Street, intermittent lane closures will route westbound traffic into the center lane due to construction.
Part Two of the project begins January 24 or January 27, focusing on Main Street from 7th to 9th Streets, with completion expected later this Spring. Construction will progress in stages, first between 7th and 8th Streets and then to 8th and 9th Streets.
Initial work involves surveying utility structures at 7th and Main and 8th and Main intersections, with flagging operations to maintain traffic flow. In mid-February, Main Street will be closed from 7th to 8th Street for 2 to 3 days of stormwater work.
Subsequent construction will involve sporadic closures, culminating in complete section closures during asphalt removal. Project scheduling remains flexible, dependent on weather and material availability.
Throughout the project, building entrance accessibility for foot traffic will be maintained. Bi-weekly meetings with contractors will continue, with regular project updates.
