Jasper Community Arts Winter Workshop schedule

Jasper Community Arts will host six art classes this winter at the Satellite Art Space, adjacent to the Jasper Municipal Pool Building. There will be two children’s classes and six adult classes.

Wheel Throwing for Beginners will be offered to High School students and Adults on Mondays, February 6th – March 13th, 2017 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. (6 classes). Enjoy an evening filled with clay and wheel-throwing on the beginners level. During this class, we will learn how to create three-dimensional forms and wheel-throwing techniques. Limited to eight participants.  Instructed by Jen Tolbert. The cost of this workshop is $55 plus $20 material fee.

Intermediate-advanced wheel throwing will be offered to High School students and Adults on Mondays, February 6th – March 13th, 2017 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. (6 classes). Enjoy an evening filled with class and wheel-throwing on the advanced level.  During this class, we will learn how to create three-dimensional forms and wheel-throwing techniques. Limited to eight participants. Instructed by Jen Tolbert. The cost of this workshop is $55 plus $30 materials fee.

Craftastic creations will be offered to grades first through fourth on Tuesdays, February 7th – March 14th, 2017 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. (6 classes). Paint, color, cut, glue, build, sparkle and shine on, in this hour-long craft to kick the winter blahs!  Instructed by Corie Eckerle. The cost of this workshop is $35.

Hand building and wheel throwing clay will be offered to grades fifth through eighth on Tuesdays, February 7th – March 14th, 2017 from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. (6 classes). Hand and wheel throwing clay class, open to those with zero to years of experience. The only requirement is to come with a will to try. Instructed by Corie Eckerle. The cost of this workshop is $50.

Watercolor will be offered to high school students and adults on Thursdays, February 9th – March 16th, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. (6 classes). This class is designed to take a complete novice to watercolor on to a more advanced knowledge of the art. It will be geared to doing still life with an emphasis on doing outside work to that individual’s interest. This could include anything from abstract to portrait work to landscapes projects. A working knowledge of drawing and composition is suggested but not required.  Instructed by George Smith. The cost of this workshop is $60.

Drawing 101 will be offered to ages 13 to 103 on Saturdays, February 11th, 18th, 25th, March 4, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to noon (4 classes). Would you like to draw better or just brush up on the basics and have instruction in drawing problems you encounter? Do you like to draw but know you need to have someone look at your work and help you grow? This class will be for anyone between 13 and 103. It is for beginning and experienced students (we are all students) who want to learn the basics or improve their drawing skills. Challenging projects will be offered for all ages and abilities. All materials provided. Instructed by Bill Worrall.  The cost of this workshop is $50.
